In order to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the German circusfans association Gesellschaft der Circusfreunde e.V. Beerlin's Stadtmuseum pays tribute to Circus in Berlin with a special exhibition. This book comes with the exhibition to showcase Berlin as the place of origin the circusfans association as well as an important place in circus history and home to many unforgotten names like Ernst Renz, Paula Busch or Albert Schumann. Many pictures, most of them unpublished until today, from the documenta artistica, the largest public colection of circus memorablia, illustrate the development of the circus in Berlin, characteristics of its classical elements, the clowns, the animal trainers and the acrobats and the life of some of its great artists.
